Dr Stone has been practicing dentistry in the Fort Lauderdale area since 1979. He moved to South Florida from Detroit, Michigan in 1968. He attended the University of Miami, graduating in 1970 with a Bachelors of Science degree in chemistry. In 1970 Dr. Stone started his dental education at the Medical College of Virginia, Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry in Richmond Virginia. As a junior student, Dr Stone was one of the first students to practice outside of the School of Dentistry building performing dental procedures at a Public Health facility in the Newport News, Virginia area. As a senior student, Dr Stone became an exchange student with the Rush Presbyterian School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois for the summer session. Dr. Stone completed the Medical College of Virginia, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 1974.

Upon obtaining his DDS degree, Dr Stone furthered his general dentistry education by attending a 2-year hospital residency program at the prestigious Long Island Jewish-Hillside Medical Center, Queens Hospital Affiliation, in New York.  Most dentists do not take a hospital residency program, and even fewer dentists attend 2-year programs.  Dr Stone was Chief Resident in Dentistry the second year.  A hospital residency trains doctors in much more advanced and more complicated treatments than dental schools. The experience is something that could never be achieved by going directly into practice after dental school.  After completing his hospital residency program, Dr Stone was accepted to a specialty program in Prosthodontics at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia.
