Teeth Reconstruction: Good For the Brain – Really!

Teeth Reconstruction:

Teeth Reconstruction A 2011 study by Japanese neuroscientists, found that having fewer teeth may mean having a decline in memory and the longer a person has been without teeth, the more likely they are to experience problems with thinking and reasoning. Keeping our teeth in our mouths not only makes us look good, but, if the study is right, keeps us smart.

One of the most amazing things about our teeth is their ability to grow new bone under our gums. This process, called osseointegration, helps to maintain a healthy level of bone in our jaws and keep our facial structure from looking sunken and shriveled.
Reconstructing teeth that have been broken or damaged improves our overall well-being and fitness.

Chipped and damaged teeth can be easily and beautifully repaired. Prosthodontists, like Dr. Stone, are trained to reconstruct teeth and restore them to their original, or better than original, condition.

From bonding to crowns, there are reconstruction options for solving simple to complex tooth reconstruction problems.

Teeth Reconstruction Options

After an assessment of your tooth is made, you and Dr. Stone decide on the treatment that works best for you.

Teeth ReconstructionHere’s a look at some options. More detailed information about each procedure can be found at Dr. Stone’s Blog.

  • Bonding – a chipped tooth is reconstructed using a resin that matches the original tooth color.
  • Inlays and Onlays – this type of reconstruction is done by making a mold of the chipped tooth, and constructing it in the lab before placing it onto the tooth.
  • Veneers – veneers are not only used to reconstruct damaged teeth, but can also be used to fix ‘gummy smiles’ and change the length of teeth. They are simple to apply, easy to care for, and last many years.
  • Crowns – also called caps – are placed over the healthy part of an existing tooth. This method allows you to retain the original tooth. With good care, crowns can last a lifetime and look and feel like natural teeth.

These are simple procedures that can make a world of difference to the appearance and health of a tooth.
Dental Implants

Another Great Option: Dental Implants

Teeth ReconstructionIf a tooth can’t be saved, replacing it with a Dental Implant is a great option, since an implant stimulates bone growth in the jaw, just like a natural tooth… and that means no bone loss.. and, if the Japanese scientists are right… no brain loss.

Teeth Reconstruction: Getting Started
