What exactly is a Tooth Implant?
A Tooth implant replaces the root of a tooth. When we talk about Tooth Implants, or Dental Implants, we naturally think about the replacement of an entire tooth. But the Tooth Implant itself is just the part of the tooth that is anchored into the jaw, beneath the gum line, to hold a new cap or crown.
The entire replacement is made up of three parts:
- The Implant that goes into the jaw
- The Abutment that is placed into the implant to connect the implant to the crown.
- The crown (or cap) that is the actual part of the tooth that is visible above the gum and is made to match your natural teeth.
So, when talking about the cost of a Tooth Implant, we’re talking about the implant itself.
A Tooth Implant can be used to:
- replace just one tooth
- anchor a bridge of two or more teeth
- anchor a complete set of dentures to replace upper, lower or both upper and lower dentures.
What is the Cost of a Tooth Implant?
A Tooth Implant costs, on average, about $2400. The cost ranges from about $1000 to $3000, depending on:
- Where you live (costs are higher in big cities)
- Who places the implant (skilled prosthodontists are often more costly…and more qualified…than discount clinics which offer little, or no, follow-up care.
- Additional procedures, such as x-rays, extractions, bone grafts, if needed.
The abutment and crown costs and average of $500 to $3000. The only way to get a clear idea of what a single, or multiple, Tooth Implant will cost, is to have an assessment.
